The City of Calgary is taking action to realize a safer, more vibrant downtown area following the Downtown Safety Leadership Table's recommendations. This initiative will see the city working on 28 key recommendations to enhance safety, support for at-risk individuals, and overall downtown experience. Implementation is underway with expected completion timelines in place, and 11 initiatives are set to be complete within a year. Funding reviews are in progress for eight of the recommendations needing additional support. Efforts include increasing police presence, improving public space maintenance, and enhancing support services.
