The City of Calgary is dedicated to empowering youth to protect the environment and climate for future generations. The Mayor's Environment Expo is a platform that brings together the community to showcase initiatives and share ideas for environmental protection. Students learn simple actions through exhibits and hands-on workshops. It is diverse and inclusive, welcoming participation from various schools, organizations, and individuals. The Mayor's Environment Expo features student-led projects from EcoSchools Canada programs, allowing students to learn about environmental actions in our city. Both virtual and in-person programming are offered to eliminate barriers to attendance. The Expo has been a community gathering for 35 years, showcasing initiatives and sharing ideas to protect the home, work, and school environment. The City is proud of its work in promoting environmental stewardship and encourages action now to avoid delaying climate and ecological change.
