Celebrate Canada Day Downtown with Us!
Calgary, it's time to come together in the heart of our vibrant city to mark Canada's birthday! Ward 7 is thrilled to invite Calgarians and visitors to our downtown core for an unforgettable Canada Day celebration. This year, our city is bringing back the joy and community spirit with a jam-packed, accessible, and family-friendly event lineup with something special for everyone.
Experience the Richness of Indigenous Culture
Our city proudly features an Indigenous showcase and powwow at The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland (formerly Fort Calgary) as a central part of this year's festivities. This is a beautiful opportunity to engage with and learn from the rich traditions, dances, and music of the Indigenous people on whose land we stand. It promises to be a highlight of the day and a powerful expression of our community's diversity and unity. The site will also host a Canada Day main stage show with a lineup of musicians, an Indigenous Artisan Market, cultural activity booths, turban tying, and food trucks.
St. Patrick's Island
Families can enjoy family-friendly entertainment and the beautiful St. Patrick's Island Park. There will be three stages with art and music performers, face painting and airbrush tattoos, crafts and activity tents, a playground, picnic spots, and food trucks.
Olympic Plaza & Municipal Building
Get together for a great day of music and cultural performances at Olympic Plaza and the Municipal Building Plaza. There will be live music, artistic performances, and food trucks. The day will end with spectacular fireworks display launched from Stampede Park, lighting up the sky in the downtown core and surrounding areas.
Embrace the Charm of the East Village Street Fair
This Canada Day, immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of the East Village Street Fair (EVSF), a much-anticipated annual event. From 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., wander along 8th Ave. S.E., from 4th St. & 6th St. S.E. and move from 5th St. Square to 9th Ave. S.E., exploring an array of vendors, engaging in fun family activities, and discovering the vibrant energy of Calgary's East Village.
